The youth of the Derwent Valley now have more opportunities to access community activities and wellbeing programs after a generous donation of a bus to the organisation Kids & Teens In The Valley (KTV).

The Lions Club of New Norfolk donated the bus, raising funds for the project with additional financial assistance from the Tasmanian Lions Foundation (TLF).

The bus is expected to make a significant difference to young people, and particularly those who face transport issues when trying to attend activities and support programs, especially during out-of-school hours.

The new bus will help overcome these transport issues, allowing more young people to attend programs, events, and activities that support their personal, social development, and wellbeing.

KTV works with every school in the Derwent Valley, providing a range of in-school, after-school, and school holiday well-being programs for children and young people aged between six and eighteen years.

One recent example of the organisation's work was the Derwent Valley Youth Summit, which attracted 93 young people, teachers, parents and youth service providers.

The Derwent Valley Youth Summit provided an opportunity for young people to come together, share their experiences, and have their voices heard on issues affecting them and their communities.

The new bus will help KTV build on these initiatives and ensure more young people can take advantage of future opportunities.

The Lions Club of New Norfolk has been acknowledged for its fundraising efforts and commitment to supporting the local community, while the Tasmanian Lions Foundation was also thanked for providing grant assistance.

For KTV, the new bus represents more than just a means of transport.

It is an opportunity to reach more young people, reduce barriers to participation, and strengthen the support networks available to children and teenagers in the Derwent Valley.

This initiative is also another example of what can be achieved when local organisations work together with a shared commitment of making a positive difference in their communities.
