Tributes for former Gazette editor

TRIBUTES are flowing for Tasmanian journalist and previous Derwent Valley Gazette editor Mike Kerr who died on Friday. 
 

Kerr had an extensive career as a writer and journalist, living and working in Australia and the US covering the public and private media sectors. 

From 1982-1985 Kerr worked as a senior media advisor for the Tasmanian premier and deputy as well as government ministers. He also worked with Tasmanian Tourism developing marketing and media strategies.

From 1985-2000 he worked with the Australian Trade Commission as a US senior communications consultant which also involved promoting collaborative public and private sector projects involving the UN and World Bank.

Most recently Kerr helped develop and deliver marketing programs and also helped produce programs for ABC Radio.

He was editor of the Derwent Valley Gazette from November 2023 until June 2024.
