Tenders have been called today for the construction of the new Longford Ambulance Station.
The new station will be built on a Government-owned greenfield site at 20 Union Street, Longford, replacing the existing station at Smith Street.
Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing minister Bridget Archer said the new ambulance station is part of a plan to boost emergency care in the regions.
“This new station will provide modern, purpose-built facilities to support the vital work of local paramedics and volunteers, while enhancing service delivery for the Longford and Northern Midlands communities,” Minister Archer said.
“Once built, we expect the new facilities will support timely responses to callouts and provide enhanced staff amenities and operational spaces.
“I look forward to seeing the project continue to progress, with construction expected to start in late 2025.”
The new Longford Ambulance Station is one of six new rural ambulance stations to be built around Tasmania and will replace the cramped quarters beside the Northern Midlands Council Chambers in Smith St.
