Midway Point Park and Ride to open in the coming weeks

Residents east of Midway Point will be able to ditch their cars and catch the bus into Hobart by the end of this month.
The Midway Point Park and Ride is the first of three new facilities of this type planned for the Greater Hobart region.
The Claremont Park and Ride is due for completion in mid-2026, while construction for the Rokeby one is yet to begin – with updated design plans to be released in the coming weeks.
In addition to buses into Hobart, the Midway Point Park and Ride will also offer public transport options to and from Sorell, the Southern Beaches, the Tasman Peninsula, and the East Coast.
The facility connects with existing bus stops on Fenton Street and the Tasman Highway, as well as a new stop on Penna Road.
Transport Minister Kerry Vincent said the Midway Point Park and Ride will give local communities more options when travelling into the Hobart CBD.
“Completing this first of three park and rides is an important milestone for making public transport more accessible, more reliable and more attractive for commuters travelling into the Hobart CBD,” Mr Vincent said.
“The Midway Point Park and Ride will provide 61 car spaces, including two accessible spaces and five dedicated motorcycle spaces.
“It is centrally located between the shared pathways to both the Midway Point and Sorell causeways, making it an excellent option for people walking or riding.
“By providing a safe and inviting space to connect with bus services, this facility supports more flexible transport choices and will help ease congestion on the Tasman Highway and Tasman Bridge, particularly during peak hours.”
