Royal Hobart Wine Show crowns Tasmania's finest

THE Royal Hobart Wine Show has announced its 2024 winners, with notable awards going to Pressing Matters, Lowestoft Estate Tasmania, and House of Arras. 

The Richard Langdon Trophy for vineyard of the year was awarded to Pressing Matters, a vineyard in Tea Tree known for its innovative and sustainable viticulture. 

Founded in 2002 by Greg Melick and his wife, Michelle, Pressing Matters produces exceptional wines in the Coal River region, including Riesling, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Cabernet.

Other highlights include Lowestoft Estate’s win for best Pinot Noir dry red with its 2023 La Maison Pinot Noir. House of Arras took home multiple awards, including for best sparkling wine, and the Claudio Alcorso Trophy for best Tasmanian wine with its House of Arras Brut Elite C1801 NV.

The best Tasmanian white wine award went to the Brown Family Wine Group for its 2022 Brown Brothers Patricia Chardonnay, while the best Cabernet Sauvignon title went to Forester Estate for its 2022 Yelverton Reserve Cabernet. 

Other awardees include Gala Estate for best Shiraz dry red and Jim Barry Wines for best Riesling dry white table wine.
