In response to the response to the recent article titled New Vaccine Developed for Salmon Disease in which John Whittington was stated as saying “For the first time, we can vaccinate every salmon against the emerging endemic bacteria P.Salmonis”, it worth noting that according to the AVPMA website (https://permits.apvma.gov.au/PER93699.PDF ) a vaccine for this disease has been available since 2023. So, Mr Whittington is incorrect in is statement, this is not the first time that industry could vaccinate for the disease.
