More than 8000 people flocked to the Bushy Park Show, with the event experiencing its largest attendance in years.

Cloverside Murray Greys and Murton Charolais dominated the beef cattle sections, with the former taking out champion junior bull and junior heifer, while the latter was named Supreme exhibit and also had the champion senior female.

Craggy Island Highlands took out the best presented team prize.

Bushy Park Show president Mollie Fenton said the beef cattle section had grown over the last three years.

“This year we added new entertainment to our program, which really made a difference in the crowd on the day,” Ms Fenton said.

“We had over 50 dachshunds racing for champion dachshund of Bushy Park Show, and Bluey joined us to say hello to all the children and their families.”

This year’s Bushy Park Show was the 151st edition.

Originally set up as a Strawberry feast in the mid 1800's, the event quickly grew into an agricultural show held on New Year's Day, where every man, woman and their dog would travel from around the State to attend.

Fast forward to now: the show, held annually in February, still attracts large crowds, with various events and competitions.
