New Norfolk Junior Football Club suffers alleged break-in

The New Norfolk Junior Football Club has been dealt another blow after its clubrooms at Tynwald Park were allegedly broken into in the early hours of last Sunday morning.

The break-in is another setback for both the New Norfolk Junior Football Club and New Norfolk Cricket Club, after its clubrooms were broken into in 2023 and vandals tore up the oval with a vehicle in late June 2026.

The two alleged offenders responsible for the latest alleged break-in arrived on a highly identifiable bike at the rear of the building. They are alleged to have made multiple attempts to gain entry, allegedly damaging the lock and door in the process. They also allegedly attempted to break into a storage cage.

The alleged offenders stole most of NNJFC's end-of-year raffle prizes, which had been generously donated by sponsors and supporters.

A statement released on Monday night by the NNJFC said, "Our club has been incredibly fortunate to receive such amazing support from local businesses, sponsors, families and members of our community who donated these prizes to help support our junior footballers. So much time, generosity and hard work has gone into organising this raffle, only for someone to come along and take that away from our club and our kids.
 
"To say we are angry, disappointed and heartbroken is an understatement. These prizes weren’t just items sitting in a room — they were generous donations from people who continually support our club and our children".
