Students at the Campbell Town District High School now have access to a new agricultural studies facility.

The new facility was officially opened on Thursday, and Education Minister Jo Palmer says it will allow the school to “significantly enhance” its ability to deliver and expand its agricultural vocational education and training programs.

It cost $2.25m to build and was designed by Tasmanian firm HBV Architects in collaboration with the school and project team, and constructed by Anstie Construction.

“The new agricultural studies facility is a fantastic example of how we’re investing in the future of young Tasmanians by equipping them with the skills and opportunities they need to thrive in primary industries,” Ms Palmer said

“The upgrade is part of a broader commitment by the Tasmanian Government to strengthen vocational pathways across the state, with similar upgrades recently delivered at Bothwell District School, Sheffield School and Jordan River School Farm.”

Ms Palmer said Campbell Town District High School also received $11,000 for new equipment to support the delivery of agricultural education, which was funded through the $30m VET Futures Fund.

The school was one of 36 educational institutions to receive funding in the first round of grants.
