Traders In Purple April 2023 Evandale plan

Property developers Traders In Purple appear to have walked away from their proposed housing development on the outskirts of Evandale, confirming that they have have placed the entirety of their land holdings to the east of Evandale on the market.

"While the company has been working for a number of years to seek to rezone a portion of the land holdings for residential development, the company has taken the decision to focus on the delivery of significant built form projects currently in pipeline interstate", a statement from the company said.

"The 296.9 hectares remains zoned as rural and is listed for sale as such with the benefit of a draft master plan design and extensive consultant work. Further information about the land can be obtained from Elders Tasmania."

The significant housing project was first announced in 2018 and generated concerns within the local Evandale community that it would significantly change the nature of the village of Evandale.

In April 2023 the company announced a down-sizing of their original plans, cutting the size of the proposal by 70 per cent, reducing the number of proposed housing lots from over 700, to 250.

At the time, the Company said that after community consultation they would take a plan to the Northern Midlands Council to have the area rezoned.
