Water restrictions have been lifted at Orford and Triabunna on the state’s East Coast.

Both locations, along with Lady Barron on Flinders Island, have been under stage one water restrictions since the beginning of April.

The restrictions remain in place at Lady Barron.

It follows more than 50mm of rain falling across parts of the East Coast during the King’s Birthday long weekend.

TasWater Acting Head of Communications and Engagement, Liz Hafner, said a drier-than-usual autumn led to the restrictions being initially put in place.

“We were hopeful that rain would eventually reach the areas that needed it most, but for some time, there was little to no meaningful rainfall,” Mrs Hammer said

“The dams finally received the top-up they needed over the long weekend.”

Ms Hafner thanked the Orford and Triabunna communities for their patience.

“The community’s efforts to conserve water during this period cannot be understated.

“When everyone plays their part, it makes a real difference in ensuring there’s enough water to go around.”

TasWater is continuing to monitor catchment levels and weather patterns at Lady Barron as water restrictions remain in place there.

“It’s important to be mindful of water use year-round, regardless of the season – every drop counts.

“The situation on Flinders Island is slowly improving, and we encourage the community to continue being water-wise.”
