Your statements and comments regarding George Town are incorrect. George Town Council applies an average area rate, and this methodology is not changing. As such, the move to AAV does not automatically result in an increase in rates, as you have suggested.
If Council applied a rate in the dollar, as many other councils do, this may have been the case. However, because an average area rate is applied to properties, the transition from properties previously valued under Capital Value to all properties being valued under AAV does not fundamentally change the way properties are charged.
