THE owner of NSW business Flinn Design, Simon Flinn, believes it was well worth making the long trip down to Tasmania for Agfest.

He said the event was excellent.

“We had really good engagement with people who came up to speak with us,” Mr Flinn said.

“We are seen as the most innovative shearing shed company in Australia, and we certainly enjoy discussing what we do and how the industry can do it better.

“But we love getting input from farmers and shearers.”

Mr Flinn said he enjoyed Agfest as a whole.

“Agfest is a really good mix of mixed farming.

“Tasmania’s mix is completely different to NSW. Farmers in Tasmania run a larger variety of sheep breeds, which is up our alley, because we customise all our sheep yards to suit particular operations and breeds.”

Datamars is a livestock company that provides EID tags, and its Tasmanian sales territory manager, Tyler Geist, said they had a good turnout at their Agfest tent this year.

“We had a lot of interest in our Z tag portfolio, which is really taking off across Tasmania,” Mr Geist said.

“We’re really starting to grow our market share.

‘We had a lot of interest in our Pratley drafters, which use individual data and allow farmers to draft effectively.”

Those walking past the Datamars tent would have noticed a large helium balloon floating above it.

“It really helped producers locate our tent near the south entrance,” Mr Geist said. “Being near an entrance also allowed us to engage with a lot of people.”

Mr Geist said an event like Agfest was beneficial to a company like Datamars.

“The access to the general public and being able to showcase products is a very good thing.”
