BARNETT ANGUS is looking forward to kicking off Tasmania’s bull-selling week this year, with BarnettAngus the first sale of the week at Powranna on Tuesday, September 15.

We’ll offer 18 Angus bulls, and w’re really pleased with how this group has come together — plenty of growth, thickness and carcase performance, and most importantly, the type of bulls we like breeding.

There’s a strong homebred influence through this year’s team. While we continue to invest heavily in AI and embryo transfer — with more than 400 embryo implants scheduled this year — the majority of this sale is by sires bred here at BarnettAngus.

Barnett Titus T17 has played a big part in that. We retained Titus because we thought he was a pretty special bull, and with more than 100 progeny now behind him, we’ve been very happy with what he has produced. His sons are among the standouts this year, particularly Lot 3, Barnett Titus W16, a personal favourite with 200, 400 and 600-day growth all in the top 1% of the breed.

Our females are also leaving their mark, particularly the Barnett Aussie Girl cow family, which continues to feature heavily through our donor program. A strong run of sons by Pathfinder Tasmania T756 and Poss Deadwood adding proven sire lines to the offering.

This year also marks our first sale working with Elders, which gives us another reason to look forward.

Get the week under way at Powranna TLX, Tuesday September 15 from 2pm.
