Landfall’s 150 years

THE Archer Family at Landfall Angus will hold their 23rd Annual Landfall Spring On-Property Auction on Wednesday, September 16.

This year’s offering comprises 129 performance-recorded two-year-old bulls and 165 yearling bulls.

The 2026 offering brings together genetics from sire lines including Woodhill Comstock, Landfall Signature, HPCA Zephyr and Connealy Craftsman. 

In our view, this is a strong representation of the four key pillars that underpin the Landfall breeding program: fertility, functionality, performance and phenotypic appeal.

The Landfall production system continues to look for ways to fast track our rate of genetic gain, multiply those genetics and offer them to the industry for the best value possible. Landfall has a strong focus on finding improvement through genetic merit in each of the sectors of the value chain through to the consumer.

This year is particularly significant as Landfall celebrates 150 years of Archer family stewardship.

The Archer family’s connection with Landfall began in the 1870s, when Frank Archer I (1846–1902) established the foundation of what would become a significant Tasmanian pastoral enterprise. 

Through the generations, the family navigated succession, expanded its holdings and continued to develop the property, with Landfall remaining at the centre of its Tasmanian pastoral activities.

Today, 150 years on, the focus remains firmly on the future. The foundations laid by those before us continue to influence how we approach our cattle, land and relationships with clients and industry. 

We thank our family, staff, clients and associates for their ongoing commitment and support. Their contribution has been fundamental to Landfall’s journey over the past 150 years, and we look forward to continuing that journey together.
