Results from the Scottsdale Tractor Pull
The Scottsdale Tractor Pull is gaining traction with its best crowd and competitor numbers in four years turning up for a contest of grunt last weekend.
In perfect conditions 30 tractors, involving close to 50 drivers, were put to the test with water-laden sleds to see who could make it to the end of the 100m track.
Tasmanian Tractor pullers Association president Danny Saltmarsh said the event was held in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Scottsdale which takes a share of any profits made during the weekend.
“The competitors are aged from 16 up to our eldest at 85 years of age, plus there’s the Fergie class for kids aged from 12 to 15 who all drive the same appropriately modified little grey Fergie tractor,” he said.
Highlights of the competition included Deloraine’s Charlotte Badcock winning both the Open and the 46-50hp Small Sled category.
Another standout performance was Wayne Stagg on his mini modified “Moving On” beating the experienced Danny Saltmarsh’s “Mad Dog”.
In the Under 25hp class Kyle Chappel of Scottsdale showed his style – putting in four clean pulls.

The next is at Steamfest over the March long weekend at Sheffield, then Burnie Show in October and Red Hills in December.
