A pair of Tasmanian women have joined the National Farmers’ Federation (NFF) Diversity in Agriculture Leadership Program.

Sam Baldock and Sam Dobson are among 12 women to be part of the program’s 2026 cohort.

Ms Baldock works as a senior agronomist and field officer for Botanical Resources Australia, supporting farmers in the production of pyrethrum.

She grew up on a mixed-cropping, beef-and-dairy farm in the North-West.

Ms Baldock said she is looking forward to strengthening her leadership skills, expanding her national network, and gaining new perspectives that will support her long-term contribution to the agricultural sector through the program.

Sam Dobson works as an agribusiness manager with the National Australia Bank in the northern half of the state, as well as in her family’s farming business.

She said she is passionate about agriculture, regional communities, and developing inclusive, practical leadership for the future of the industry.

NFF CEO Mike Guerin congratulated the 2026 cohort.

“We are so excited to see these talented women thrive in this flagship program,” Mr Guerin said.

“The NFF has set a goal to double the number of women in agriculture’s leadership ranks by 2030.

“These 12 women are already assets to the agriculture industry, and, commendably, they’ve now committed to growing their leadership skills even further.”

The program’s participants will attend a three-day leadership retreat in Canberra, be mentored by an established industry leader, develop personal and professional goals, engage with industry influencers, and join an alumni network of peers across the country.
