My husbands family come from Swansea ,and we are visiting from Far North Queensland . Our trip around Tassie to date ,has made one thing very clear .

Aged care , retirement villages etc, are in dire need . Swansea has a relatively predominant aged / aging population . Many choose to move here because the climate is mild in comparison . I was stunned to read an article stating that the proposed Tempus Village retirement / aged care development was denied .

It’s almost ludicrous to try to fathom why this is so . I do agree that Swansea is in need of more middle range accommodation ,and more facilities . Yet, if this development was to succeed ,those things would most certainly follow .

It’s easy to see this beautiful seaside town needs some injection of development, to move ahead as it seems to have stood still, since we were here 9 years ago .

I will watch eagerly to see if this proposal gains wings to get it off the ground as I think it’s going to be a massive plus for the area .
