Council on the hunt for new CEO
The Derwent Valley Council is seeking expressions of interest for the role of CEO.
Current CEO Ron Sanderson, who has held the position since Dean Griggs stepped down in early 2024, has confirmed he will reapply for the role but only for a one-year term.
The council said it is seeking a longer-term commitment.
Mr Sanderson has stated his desire to remain in the role for several reasons, including potential instability ahead of the 2026 local government elections.
He also remains keen to oversee and complete current council tasks that won't be finished by early February.
“A new CEO will need time to get acquainted with these while getting used to the new council,” Mr Sanderson said.
He's also said there are proposed changes in operations, of which he's best qualified to help get done before stepping down.
These tasks include the restoration and reopening of the Bushy Park War Memorial Pool, upgrades to public amenities - including toilets at Granton and the New Norfolk War Memorial Hall – and unlocking and utilising Willow Court as a historical, cultural and economic asset.
Council has advised that applications close for the position at 9am on Monday, November 10.
