The popular Derwent Valley Autumn Festival is being held this Sunday, April 12, at the "Esplanade" in New Norfolk.
Hosted by the Derwent Valley Rotary Club, the annual event is the highlight of the Tasmanian Autumn Festival, which runs through until the end of April.
Set on the banks of the Derwent River in all its colourful Autumn glory, the festival brings the community together to celebrate culture, creativity, diversity and history.
The Derwent Valley Autumn Festival is also a modern-day tribute to years of tradition, when locals and tourists would gather to socialise, share, and enjoy the "fruits of the growing season" after working hard on the land during Spring and Summer.
The festival gains in popularity each year, always attracting large numbers of locals and tourists alike, all looking to experience the past season's best produce and food /drink, market stalls, live entertainment and family-friendly activities.
Set in the heart of "the valley of love" in New Norfolk, the Derwent Valley Autumn Festival is a free event running from 10.00 am -3.00 pm on Sunday, with gold-coin donations always appreciated by Rotary.
Parking is limited and it's recommended to park at Kensington Park or, if possible, travel to and from by shuttle bus, which is free and provided by Kinetic Bus Services.
The New Norfolk Rowing Club is also hosting the Autumn Masters Rowing Regatta on the Derwent River on Saturday from its base, also on the Esplanade in New Norfolk.
Also part of the Tasmanian Autumn Festival, rowing crews, teams, supporters, and volunteers will come together for a fantastic weekend of camaraderie and competitive racing.
Congratulations also to New Norfolk Rowing Club members Jasper Jennings and Jackson Smith for their recent selection in the Tasmanian Interstate Rowing Squad/Team for their age group.
