Candidates for Sorell, Tasman and Glamorgan-Spring Bay Council elections announced

Only six people are running in the Tasman Council elections, so they will all take a seat at the council table.

However, Tasman residents will still have to vote for who they want to be mayor and deputy mayor.

Current mayor Rod MacDonald and Kelly Spaulding are tussling it out for the top job, while David Beard, Angela Knott and Steve McQueeney are running for deputy mayor.

Rounding out the Tasman councillors elected unopposed is Joel McKean.

The Electoral Commissioner will call for new nominations for one unfilled Tasman Council vacancy.

Nominations close at noon on September 28.

Further north at Sorell, incumbent Janet Gatehouse and Kristian Horvath are competing for the mayoral role.

Those vying for Sorell deputy mayor are Michael Larkins, Beth Nichols, Melinda Reed and Jason Spence.

The other candidates running for Sorell Council are Dionne Berry, Will Downie, John Daly, Jeremy Ferguson, Lisa Russell, Debra Salter and Carmel Torenius.

Over at Glamorgan-Spring Bay, Cheryl Arnol will have to fight off Greg Raspin, Pam Sharpe and Greg Tory to have another term as mayor.

Kenneth Gregson, Elizabeth Grey, Michael Symonds and Jenny Walker are vying for the deputy mayor role.

Meanwhile, Neil Edwards and Michael Tyquin are hoping to be elected to the Glamorgan-Spring Bay Council.

Ballot packs will be mailed out from October 5, and electors will have until October 27 to cast their votes.
