Tasmania’s inaugural FarmX agriculture expo and conference is shaping up to be an enlightening event for the wider farming community when it is held on August 21 at Woolmers Estate, Longford.

Organised by TasFarmers to appeal to all agriculture sectors and provide detailed information and a close look at innovative products and services, it will feature presentations from industry experts and more than 20 exhibitors.

Emcee will be Oli Le Lievre from Victoria, founder of the hugely popular podcast Humans of Agriculture.

Tas Farm Innovation Hub will facilitate a panel discussion on climate change chaired by Landline’s Pip Courtney.

Other guest speakers include economist Saul Eslake, Tasmanian Irrigation CEO Mike Sylvester, Ausveg CEO Michael Coote and National Farmers Federation president David Jochinke.

TasFarmers events and partnership coordinator Jessica O’Brien said that Tasfarmers saw a gap in the market that could benefit primary producers – without being specific to any one sector.

“This is aimed at anyone on the land, and we wanted to engage personally with farmers and make sure all of the exhibits are hands-on and interactive,” she said.

“We want to see farmers take something practical home at the end of the day that makes their lives easier and their business better.”

Registrations open at 8am on the day for an 8.40am start, with FarmX wrapping up at 4pm with a networking opportunity until 5pm.

Tickets are $116 through the FarmX website www.farmx.org.au with TasFarmers members receiving a significant discount if they contact the office
