Fresh faces at the Tasmanian Hemp Association
The founder of The Distillers Institute and the Tasmanian Whisky Academy, along with a well-travelled communications specialist, are the two newest executive appointments to the state’s peak hemp industry body.
Anne Gigney is the Tasmanian Hemp Association’s (THA) new executive officer, while Vanessa Scott is taking on the events and partnerships coordinator role.
THA president Andi Lucas said she was delighted to welcome the pair to the organisation.
“Their combined expertise will position the THA to better advocate for our members, grow industry capability, and champion hemp as a key part of Tasmania’s future economy,” Ms Lucas said.
“Our association is very grateful to the Tasmanian government for the ongoing grant support that is allowing us to engage such incredibly high calibre staff.”
Ms Gigney has extensive experience in the alcohol and beverage sector.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the Tasmanian Hemp Association at a time when the industry is poised for significant growth,” she said.
“Tasmania is uniquely positioned to build the profile of the hemp industry in the state and take a lead in sustainable hemp production nationally.
“I look forward to supporting the industry and its members and driving collaboration across the sector.”
Meanwhile, Ms Scott has worked with organisations such as the Cancer Council Tasmania, City of Launceston and the Al Fahim Group in Abu Dhabi.
“Hemp has extraordinary potential to transform industries, from textiles and food to construction and sustainability,” she said.
“I’m passionate about working with the team to build meaningful partnerships and deliver events that bring our members and stakeholders together to unlock that potential.”
