The new Tasmanian Parliament has been finalised with the completion of counting today, but it's still unclear who will form Tasmania's next government.

At the conclusion of final counting today, the new Tasmanian Parliament comprises 14 Liberals, 10 Labor, 5 Greens, 1 Shooter, Farmer and Fisher (SFF), and 5 independents.

This is almost exactly the same as the composition of the last Parliament.

There has however been some change of faces, with three new Liberals elected (Gavin Pearce in Braddon, Bridget Archer in Bass and Marcus Vermey in Clark) and two new Labor members (Jess Greene in Bass and Brian Mitchell in Lyons). Pearce, Archer and Mitchell were all recently members  of the Federal Parliament.

Other new members include the Shooters, Farmers, and Fishers Carlo Di Falco in Lyons, and independents George Razay in Bass, and Peter George in Franklin.

All three former Jacquie Lambie network members lost their seats (Miriam Beswick, Rebekah Pentland and Andrew Jenner), as did Liberals Simon Wood, Nic Street, and Simon Behrakis, and Labor's Casey Farrell.

The Electoral Commissioner has advised that he will officially declare the result and return the writs to the Governor this Tuesday, 5th August.

Following that, the Governor has seven days to commission a new Government.

Despite the announcement yesterday by Braddon independent Craig Garland that he will back Labor, at this point it is expected that Premier Rockliff will advise the Governor to recommission his government.

The Greens and independents Kristie Johnston, David O'Byrne, Peter George, George Razay, and the SFF's Carlo De Falco have all yet to announce who they will support.

Subject to their final decisions, this could set up another vote of no confidence on the floor of Parliament when it returns, and a possible change to a Dean Winter-led Labor government.
