New water tanks at Rural Youth
If a fire or other emergency breaks out at Quercus Park, there will be ample water available to respond.
New head hydrants, a tank and a fire pump at Carrick’s Quercus Park are now complete, with the upgrades valued at $650,000.
The state government provided $500,000 towards the project.
Rural Youth State President Amber Bramich said the upgrades meet the needs of Quercus Park now and into the future.
“As a leading event space in Tasmania, we wanted to ensure that we can run fantastic and compliant events,” Ms Bramich said.
“It’s fantastic to finally have it signed off and ready to use should there be a fire event.
“Hopefully, we don’t need to use it.”
In total, the tanks hold around 300,000 litres of water.
“These tanks provide for the safe distribution of water throughout the site to ensure safety and compliance and ensure that, in the event of an emergency, further access to water can be facilitated,” Tasmanian Premier Jeremy Rockliff said.
“These are key safety upgrades to support the wonderful Agfest event, Party in the Paddock and many others.
“These are good investments to support events in Tasmania, support young people having a go and support the regional community.”
