Royal Hobart Show wine and fine food awards dished out

A number of food and wine producers are celebrating after winning at the Royal Hobart Show.

The Snap Printing Royal Hobart Wine Show and Royal Tasmanian Fine Food Awards were the last of the competitions for this year’s show.

The winners of the wine show were:

  • Claudio Alcorso Trophy for Best Tasmanian Wine: House of Arras – House of Arras Blanc de Blancs 2017 (also won trophies for Best Tasmanian Sparkling and Best Sparkling)
  • Best Pinot Noir Dry Red: Ossa Wines – 2024 Belbrook Pinot Noir (also won the Jean Miguet Trophy for Best Tasmanian Red Wine)
  • Tasmanian Award: Scott Dawkins
  • Richard Langdon Trophy for Vineyard of the Year: Pooley Wines (also won trophies for Best Shiraz and the Pinot Noir of Provenance Trophy)
  • Bill Geeves Trophy for Best Tasmanian White Wine: Riversdale Estate – 2024 Riversdale Estate R42 Riesling
  • Cliff Heard Trophy for the Best Chardonnay: Giant Steps Wine- 2024 Giant Steps Sexton Vineyard Chardonnay  (also won the trophy for Best Individual Vineyard Wine)

Meanwhile, the category winners for the Royal Tasmanian Fine Food Awards were:

  • Richard Langdon Trophy for Best Exhibit: Melshell Oyster Shack – Melshell Gold Pacific Oysters
  • Best Tasmanian Exhibit: Melshell Oyster Shack – Melshell Gold Pacific Oysters
  • The Chair’s Trophy: Tasmanian Buffalo – Buffalo Milk
  • Minister’s Encouragement Award: Jacob Booth – Cult Logic Coffee (also won the Champion Coffee)

Pooley Wines took out three gongs and its general manager, Tristan Jones, said its success at the Royal Hobart Show was remarkable.

“Receiving these three trophies at this year’s Royal Hobart Wine Show is an incredible honour for our entire team,” Mr Jones said.

“With more than 800 wines submitted, this recognition reflects the passion, expertise and dedication of our viticulture and winemaking teams.

“As Pooley Wines celebrates 40 years of grape growing and winemaking in Tasmania, these awards highlight both the hard work behind every vintage and the enduring legacy of the Pooley family.

“We are immensely proud of these achievements and excited about the future of Tasmanian wine.”
