Tasmania experiences driest April in a decade

Most of the North-West and all of King Island have recorded their lowest January to April rainfall levels on record since 1900.
Meanwhile, Tasmania as a whole had its driest April since 2015.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, rainfall totals for April were “below to very much below average for most of Tasmania.”
However, parts of the east had near-average rainfall.
At Cape Grim, the average rainfall for April is 64.4mm, but it only recorded 18.8mm this year.
It is even worse for Sheffield, which only had 2.2mm compared to its April average of 68.3mm.
On King Island, which has been experiencing unprecedented dry weather for over a year, it recorded 16.4mm of rain in April.
By comparison, its April average is 55.5m,
Water restrictions are currently in place in Orford, Triabunna, and Lady Barron on Flinders Island.
