Adrian Carpenter of Cressy has taken out the Australian Utility Championship Interstate Challenge for the second consecutive year and finished second in the National Championships held in Nyngan, NSW.

The interstate challenge accepts two entries from each state and territory, with Adrian filling both spots for Tasmania with his dogs Piper and Ally – a dominant duo who achieved 115 points followed by Les Eveleigh of NSW and Gary White of Victoria on 108 and Victorians Roland Pell and Adam James on 58.

Piper also worked brilliantly through the obstacles to finish second overall.

In a major interstate campaign, Adrian travelled to Dirranbandi, Queensland, for the Australian Yard Dog Championships which started yesterday.

He has entered top dogs Alf and Biggin, and will save Piper, Sue and Monster for the Kelpie Championships which are held alongside.

All up he has nine trial dogs on board with the third leg of his trip being Western Australia where he will represent Tasmania in the Supreme Sheep Dog Championships and three-sheep Ted Gaby interstate teams challenge along with fellow Tasmanians Martin Waddingham from Westbury and Bernard McGashen from Mathinna.

“Tasmania has had good representation at national level with working dogs for a long time and it’s great to be able to show what we can do,” Adrian said.

“It’s been a successful trip so far and hopefully that will continue to be the case.”
