The Derwent Valley’s 7K Distillery is joining forces with the Taste of Summer, returning as a key festival partner and showcasing a new range of drinks created especially for this year’s event.

Among the new drinks is a limited-release summer gin, plus the return of the 7K Raspberry Fizz.

Taste of Summer General Manager Katharine Dean said 7K’s imagination, energy and commitment to local ingredients had made it one of the festival’s most distinctive and loved stallholders.

“We’re thrilled to have 7K back again this year,” Ms Dean said.

“They embody the creativity and quality that make the Taste what it is.

“Their new limited-release gin and the return of the raspberry fizz are going to be huge favourites with our patrons.”

7K’s custom container bar will again form part of the Tasman Yacht Club precinct on Hobart’s waterfront.

7K founder Tyler Clark said the Taste remains one of the most important events for the distillery each year.

“The Taste of Summer is where we get to show people what we’ve been working on and it’s the perfect testing ground for new ideas,” Mr Clark said.

“We love the energy, we love the support for local producers, and we love being part of an event that celebrates Tasmania the way this one does.”

Mr Clark said this year’s limited-release gin was explicitly designed for summer drinking and built around local botanicals.

“This gin is something special.

“We wanted to create a spirit that feels like a Tasmanian summer, bright, fresh and layered with flavour.”

He was also excited to bring back one of the distillery’s most popular drinks.

“The raspberry fizz has taken on a life of its own,” Mr Clark said.

“People ask us about it all year round and it’s been gaining serious momentum with retailers around the state.”

This year’s Taste Of Summer runs from December 27 to January 3, featuring more than 100 Tasmanian producers and expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors.

Ms Dean said 7K’s continued involvement “speaks to the strength of Tasmania’s distilling community and their new releases will add something genuinely exciting to the festival atmosphere”.

7K Distillery is located at 55 Hamilton Road in New Norfolk and offers full tours and tasting opportunities upon booking.

It is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 4 pm and Sundays from Midday to 4 pm.
