John Fowle after his innings

Molesworth Cricket Club’s John (Chook) Fowle has written himself into the record books after smashing a double century in the Division 5 forty-over game held at Gretna on Sunday.

Fowle finished on 219 not out off 119 balls, smashing 20 sixes and 12 fours in a superb batting display which ultimately won the game off his own bat.

Molesworth finished all out for 308 runs and then bowled the home side, Gretna, out for 167 runs.

Fowles' big score is most likely the best batting innings in the club's history (yet to be confirmed) and comes off the back of another great innings by Molesworth 2 batsman Mitch Turner, who on Saturday scored 134 runs against Old Beach.

In other local cricket news, Gretna Cricket Club legend Mathew Burns celebrated a milestone last Saturday, playing his 500th club game at home.
