The fishing, hunting and recreational opportunities within one of Tasmania’s most remote municipalities will be on display at the Highlands Bushfest.

The 11th iteration of the event will be taking place at the Bothwell Recreation Ground on November 22 and 23.

With more than 75 stallholders and around 2000 people expected to attend each day, highlights include chainsaw demonstrations, sheepdog trials and wood chopping.

Central Highlands Mayor Loueen Triffitt said Bushfest was a special and unique event on the council’s annual calendar.

“It’s similar to Agfest, but it’s different because it’s focused on the beautiful scenery throughout the Highlands and up the lakes,” Ms Triffitt said.

“It encourages former residents to come back and those families still in the Highlands often have the weekend organised for extended family to come and stay.”

Entry for the 2025 Highlands Bushfest is by gold coin and everyone who attends is eligible for the raffle prize.
