The Bushy Park Show will be kicking off Tasmania’s show season for 2026 on February 21.

Show committee president Mollie Fenton said preparations for the event were coming along well.

“We’re getting rides back this year, so there’ll be a lot more entertainment for the kids, and we’re also having a dachshund race for the first time ever,” Ms Fenton said.

“We’re hoping for 4000 people to turn up, but we’d be happy with any number.”

Ms Fenton said there was high demand for the animal competitions this year.

“I’ve had non-stop emails about entries for cattle, sheep, horses and dachshunds.”
With this year being the 151st running of the Bushy Park Show, Ms Fenton said it was special to be a part of it.

“Being that I’m only 20, I don’t know what it’s always been like.

“But it’s been good to run it and see the changes that are happening with it.”

The show will run between 9am and 4pm at Bushy Park Showground, with tickets available at the gate.
