Minister intervenes in Doo-Lishus lease saga

Parks Minister Nick Duigan has intervened in the lease uncertainty surrounding Tasman Peninsula business Doo-Lishus, but stopped short of directing the Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) to renew their lease.

Doo-Lishus has operated at the Blowhole for 27 years, but PWS told the seafood business its lease would not be extended beyond March 2028.

PWS told the owners of Doo-Lishus in an email that “the operation of a food van is no longer considered compatible with the growing demands for parking and circulation of vehicles at the Blowhole”.

However, Mr Duigan has intervened in the matter.

“Doo-lishus makes an important contribution to both the local community and the visitor experience on the Tasman Peninsula. 

“It’s been doing this for two decades. 

“The business is a well-known and valued part of the region, supporting local employment, providing a service for locals and visitors, and contributing to the area's unique character and appeal.

“I have directed the Parks and Wildlife Service to work with Doo-lishus and Tasman Council to ensure a suitable long-term outcome for the business.”
