RAMP Tasmania Poultry buys Nichols Poultry
A new buyer has been found for Nichols Poultry.
Its previous owner, TasFoods, was placed into voluntary administration in March.
KPMG Australia partners Tim Mableson, David Hardy, and Emily Seeckts were appointed administrators of the company.
They announced that a Deed of Company Agreement, voted on by creditors, to sell TasFoods and its subsidiaries to RAMP Tasmania Poultry had been executed on Tuesday.
RAMP CEO Brad McAuliffe said it is expected that the Nicolas Poultry business and all its staff will remain in place.
“Nichols has earned its name in Tasmania over decades, and we’re not here to coast on that,” Mr McAuliffe said.
“We’re taking it back to its grassroots and building the brand into something stronger than ever.
“Tasmanian food for Tasmanian people, and we mean it.”
Mr Mableson said RAMP fended off extensive interest from both local Tasmanian and interstate parties.
“Importantly, we have been able to reach an outcome that keeps the highly regarded and local Nichols Poultry brand and its operations in Tasmania,” he said.
“I would particularly like to call out the support of the 160 employees, customers, and suppliers throughout the administration process.
“Their support has been invaluable and a key reason for reaching a successful sale outcome.”
RAMP has already taken over the operations of Nichols Poultry.
