Tas Junior Beef Expo Grand Champion All-Breeds heifer Royston Quantum’s Rosary V55 with handler Rorey Smith, Andrew Johnstone & Rebecca Woodiwiss.

AT Royston Shorthorns we are very excited to have calves hitting the ground now by Belmore Tiger Moth U60, the 2025 top priced bull purchased out of the Belmore Shorthorns, SA, Annual Bull Sale.

Belmore Tiger Moth U60 at 21 months old weighed in at 860kg, and scanned 128ema, 10 rib & rump fat, 6.2 imf, 45cm scrotal.

The auctioneer called him a classy, deep thick roan sire with impressive carcass characteristics.

His calves have been pretty consistent weighing 35-40kg at birth with heaps of colour, which is nice to see.

We have recently weaned our spring 2025 drop calves, with AI sires represented, alongside walking sires Tweed Flash T1 & home bred bull Royston Unstoppable U23.

Very pleasing to see the evenness and consistency across this group of calves. Steer and heifer weaners will be available on Auctions Plus in the next few weeks.

We again have had another busy year in the showring starting with the Sheffield School Hoof & Hook Competition last November, where Mitch led our Sprys Heritage P73 Steer to Grand Champion on the Hoof.

On of our most outstanding results to date was the Grand Champion Heifer at the recent Tas Junior Beef Expo. Royston Quantum’s Rosary V55, took out the coveted title over 66 other stud females exhibited. Rosary is PTIC to calve at 2 in July, who also backs up her phenotype with her scan data taken in January at 558kg, 79ema, 13 rump, 9 rib & 8.2imf.

There is a selection of 18-24month old bulls for sale now. Calving twice a year, March/ April and late July/ August gives the opportunity to have new genetics always coming along. All bulls prior to sale are fertility tested.

All are Genomics Tested, sire verified and Pesti Virus PI negative and weighed at birth.
