Successful mix of old and new

NORTH Eastern Beef Shorthorns was established by Graeme Walsh in 1970 with the transfer of the first stud sire, Judbury Neil and females Dunroan Flora 15th, Dunroan Helena 42nd and Recklyns Camelia.

 The stud has grown over the years to now boast a herd of over 100 registered females.

The family continues the tradition of breeding quality Shorthorns – with carcass and eating quality top of mind, while maintaining the high fertility and gentle temperament of the breed.

At North Eastern Shorthorns an infusion of new and old genetics continues the stud’s tradition of breeding commercial relevant shorthorns with eating quality top of mind. The infusion of new international genetics has increased our polled percentage in the herd. A successful trip to the Dubbo Shorthorn National in June 2026 saw a homebred bull North Eastern Cabel W01 snapped up.

At North Eastern Shorthorns the 2026 calving season has just completed with the third drop of calves by Warraberry Specialist S79, a Belmore Oregon son purchased for $18,000 at the 2023 National Sale and more powerhouse calves by North Eastern Ziggy, one of two bulls we retained by Muridale Phantom 10F.
