Tas Quality Meats lands Singapore deal
Cressy meat processor Tasmanian Quality Meats has landed a new export deal into Singapore.
The deal comes after TQM in March lost access to its lucrative Middle East markets due to the Iran War.
Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Guy Barnett, said the result was secured during his recent trade mission to Singapore.
“Our trade mission has already delivered a significant result for Tas Quality Meats, with a four-tonne export deal into Singapore secured for the business,” Minister Barnett said.
“After facing challenges because of the conflict in UAE, TQM pivoted by pursuing new market opportunities.
“TQM had previously relied on overseas Australian traders and brokering companies, but as a result of this mission found that you can’t beat being on the ground meeting face-to-face to deliver brand awareness outcomes."
Matt Lang, TQM’s Managing Director, said this was his first time on mission and at the trade stand.
“It’s a great way to engage directly with buyers. I would definitely do it again,” Mr Lang said.
“Being on the ground like this is critical, it helps grow a market presence, build new client relationships, and sustain long-term partnerships."
In late March, Biosecurity Tasmania closed closed its investigations into five Tasmanian abattoirs, including TQM, after it was determined that footage obtained by activists was likely inadmissible in court due to it being obtained without permission.
