A prize pool valued at more than $55,000 will incentivise young people with a passion for agriculture to enter the 2026 Woolworths Young Farmer of the Year Competition.

Presented by Rural Youth Tasmania, the competition is open to all Tasmanians aged 15 to 30 and welcomes participants from all backgrounds - not just Rural Youth members - who are keen to learn new skills and test their knowledge and leadership abilities.

Rural Youth Tasmania state president Amber Bramich said the competition continues to grow in

popularity and provides an outstanding opportunity for young people who may or may not be involved in agriculture.

“The Woolworths Young Farmer of the Year Competition is a fantastic way for aspiring young

people to showcase their skills, develop new ones, and connect with industry representatives,” Ms Bramich said.

“Competitors have the opportunity to win incredible prizes while also gaining valuable experience, confidence and industry connections.”

On top of the commitment from Woolworths, the competition has also welcomed AJL Heavy Equipment as a new sponsor in 2026, with the company providing a Yamaha UTV as the major prize.
