Training Greyhounds on and off in this state NSW & America for 30 +years you could say that I would have a sound knowledge of the sport. Hearing Cassie Oconner speaking at a recent enquiry into the reason for closure of the sport. Stating that the death + 40 injuries being recorded already this year is the contributing factor. In Tasmania we have not got the services of fulltime specialist vets to I identify injuries early and treat them as required. Here in Tasmania we have and had experience muscleman over the years to service this area. The Greyhound muscleman worked with vets and gain the insights into the motion dynamics of the racing greyhound. Project 64 was a combination of 5 vets to examine the types of injuries the racing greyhound incurred over a period of 5 years. The government in my view has failed the greyhound industry in this state by rushing through closure in this state. The way forward in my view would to be establish prerace clearance check after every 3 races by a vet or in conjunction with an experience person in this area. This way forward would reduce any reportable injuries greatly. This government could employ persons to treat the dogs whilst injured. The greens are desperate for there own reasons to shut down a particular person in this sport.
