Pearce intervenes on gun law issue

Primary Industries Minister Gavin Pearce has intervened directly on the gun law issue, posting to his Facebook page last night that "99 per cent of Canberra" doesn't know what it means to be a responsible firearm owner", and "don't get it."
"I've spent my whole life around guns", Mr Pearce said.
"On the farm. In the Army.
"I know what it means to be a responsible firearm owner.
"I can tell you now that 99% of Canberra doesn't.
"They don't get it.
"And that's why their firearm changes cannot be rushed through.
"We need to bring some common sense to the table.
"And should be prioritising getting firearms out of the hands of criminals and those that wish to do harm.
"Not law-abiding, common-sense Australians."
The Federal Parliament will today vote of a proposal to tighten gun laws further in response to Bondi, and establish a new gun buy-back.

New polling indicates that the majority of Tasmanians support stronger gun laws in the wake of the Bondi attacks.
A poll by EMRS has found that 50 per cent of Tasmanians “strongly support” tighter gun laws and the proposed firearms buyback, with a further 19 per cent “somewhat” supportive, for a total of 69 per cent in favour of gun reforms.
Around 13 per cent of the 752 Tasmanians polled “strongly” opposed the changes, with around 10 per cent “somewhat” opposed.
EMRS Director Brad Stansfield said support for the changes was softer in the more rural electorates of Braddon and Lyons, but still reached 60 per cent.
“In many respects these results are unsurprising – instinctively, the majority of Tasmanians have a leaning towards tighter gun control, particularly after Port Arthur”, EMRS Director, Brad Stansfield, said.
“That being said, the results in Braddon and Lyons do show the existence of a relatively significant minority opposed to the changes in particular demographics.
“Both the State and Federal Governments would do well to reassure these people, in both action and words, that they aren’t being unfairly targeted by these changes.”
Federal Parliament is set to vote on establishing a gun-buyback scheme by the end of tomorrow.

Y should we have to do it wen we didn't start the shit if the government did not let them in and did the job they was meant to do this would not of happened so no im against it and most of the licence gun owners will have the same thing to say so yea no way am I given my guns up wen I pay over 10g for them to get like not even 5g back

I honestly think everyone has been caught up in all the media hype and fear mongering and actually got that caught in the moment they have lost sight of the real issue
No politician wants to make any law around how that person got a gun license because there were laws in place and you can cut it slice and dice it any way you please and that question remains unanswered and more importantly swept under the carpet
How can you make yet more laws when the ones in place are not being upheld it a system failure pure and simple
Simple answer fix the system and that won’t cost millions
Cherry picking poll
EMRS poll of 752 people is a poor reflection and sample size, what area did they target for the poll?? Any poll can be skewed on such a small sample size. We know the media have a bias to fear munga and twist the facts to suit their narrative just look how they keep using images of allready banned and military style firearms to install fear into those who have no knowledge of the firearms community and the elusive belt fed shot gun that dosent exist just shows those with a platform and with power have no idear what they are on about an chose to only consult with other lobbiest that also have a radical agenda to disarm the population. And rushing this bill through is not democratic it goes against all fairness of been in a democracy to have a right of reply and scrutinise such legislation or are we seeing the demise of our democratic system.
