The Derwent Valley and New Norfolk received a royal treat yesterday with the King and Queen of Denmark paying a visit to the Agrarian Kitchen in New Norfolk.

Denmark's King Frederik and Queen Mary have been touring Australia this week, Mary's first visit since being crowned Queen of Denmark.
Derwent Valley Mayor Michelle Dracoulis attended today's event at the Agrarian Kitchen along with the Tasmanian Premier Jeremy Rockliff.

"Today was a special day", the Mayor said.

"A huge congratulations to Severine Demanet, Rodney Dunn and the entire Agrarian Kitchen team. To have built something of such quality and integrity - a sustainable, world-class offering - that it attracts a visit from a King and Queen is something our whole community can be proud of.

"It was also a pleasure to meet Her Excellency Ingrid Dahl-Madsen, Ambassador of Denmark to Australia, and to be part of the reception as hosted by Premier Jeremy Rockliff."

The royal couple's first stop after arriving on Monday was at Uluru in central Australia then moving on to Canberra and Melbourne on Tuesday and Wednesday and finishing up spending their final day, today in Queen Mary's home State of Tasmania.

After paying an early visit  to the Alum Cliff Marine Reserve to learn about kelp forest restoration the royal couple then visited INCAT Shipyard to see the world’s largest battery-powered ferries being built for Danish operator, Molslinjen.

What better way to then replenish their royal energy by moving to the Derwent Valley and New Norfolk's acclaimed Agrarian Kitchen for a tour and a bite to eat. Following on from this the King and Queen then visited MONA hosted by founder David Walsh, finishing up with a public meet and greet on Hobart's waterfront in front of thousands of people.

The Danish King & Queen's final official engagement on their tour of Australia and Tasmania is a State Reception hosted by Tasmanian Governor Barbara Baker AC.
