Sheep Owners: Important EID Updates

From 1 January 2027 All sheep moving off a property, regardless of age or destination, must be fitted with an electronic identification (eID) tag.

An eID is an NLIS-approved tag containing a microchip that provides each animal with a unique electronic identity.

These electronic tags help improve livestock traceability, strengthen Australia's biosecurity system, support market access, and allow for faster responses to disease outbreaks.

Whether you run a large farming operation or keep a few backyard sheep, these requirements apply to you.
