Tas Farm Innovation Hub to host panel at Farmx

The TAS Farm Innovation Hub hopes to teach FarmX attendees how to better future-proof their agricultural operations.

The organisation is one of the platinum sponsors of the event and will be running a panel featuring Sally Dakis, Stuart Whatling, Tomas Remenyi and Georgie Burbury.

“In that will be discussions around being prepared for the future – things like water security and understanding your soil,” TAS Farm Innovation Hub Director Sandra Knowles said.

“The panel will be bringing their insights and perspectives as to how they’re preparing for the drier seasons that are coming to Tasmania more and more as the climate appears to change.”

Ms Knowles said events like FarmX were important for the agricultural industry.

“There’s an opportunity for people to come and talk about things that are worrying them – that peer-to-peer discussions are out with farmers.

“But it’s also about getting experts to pitch their knowledge and give examples of where they’ve been working and trying to improve practices.”

The TAS Farm Innovation Hub panel are all Tasmanian and Ms Knowles said they were all focused on climate.

FarmX is taking place at the Deloraine Showgrounds on August 20.

Tasmanian Country editor Lana Best and journalist Simon McGuire will both be at the event.
