The Derwent Valley and Central Highlands Tourism Association has announced that the organisation is formalising an agreement with the Derwent Valley Council to own the 2026/27 license to host and run events in High Street High Street New Norfolk.

Targa Tasmania is set to return to the Derwent Valley and New Norfolk later in 2026.

Hobart Historic Cruises has revealed the passenger boat, the "Spirit of Hobart", will make its first-ever full Derwent River run from Hobart to New Norfolk on Wednesday, September 16 2026.

Tasmania SES issued a minor flood warning on Sunday for the Derwent Valley, which includes low-lying tidal-affected areas of Hobart, Bruny Island, Clifton Beach, Huonville, Geeveston, Dover, Southport, Dodges Ferry, Maria Island, Orford, Triabunna, Eaglehawk Neck, Port Arthur, and Lauderdale.

The Inland Fisheries Service of Tasmania has been busy stocking waters with both Brown and Rainbow Trout in preparation for the start of the 2026-27 Tasmanian brown trout fishing season on Saturday, August 1.
