Most buyers of agricultural produce have independent environmental certification obligations which they must adhere to if they want to export to European and North American markets. They will not buy produce from farmers who have deforested land, destroyed threatened species or threatened vegetation communities or damaged wetlands and riparian areas. The Forest Practices Authority wouldn’t need to do investigate these activities if they weren’t occurring. The fact is they are. Some people are squealing because they got caught.
