Ratharney signs 10 year deal with Icebreaker
Tasmanian woolgrowers Chris and Claire Headlam from Ratharney have signed a 10-year rolling wool supply agreement with global natural performance apparel brand Icebreaker.
Mr Headlam said the long-term contract with Icebreaker was an exciting next step for the business.
“When we originally joined the ZQ programme in 2020, we knew there was a possibility that we’d have the chance to supply Icebreaker, if they started sourcing from Australia,” Mr Headlam said.
“It’s a full circle moment now that Icebreaker is offering contracts in Australia, and we’re delighted to be part of the programme, which is the future for selling wool in Australia.
“Being part of a long-term partnership like this gives us confidence that the work we’re doing is recognised and valued, and it’s great to know that we’re contributing to a supply chain that is aligned with our values, and is focused on sustainability and continuous improvement for animals and the planet.”
The agreement was facilitated by Zentra Wool Company, with CEO Angus Street saying they were proud to partner with Chris and Claire, who have a strong focus on long-term sustainability.
“Chris and Claire are well known for the work they do to enhance and restore biodiversity on farm, as well as producing some of Australia’s best merino wool.
“They’re the types of growers who are helping to influence and shape the future of wool production in Australia, and it’s a pleasure to be able to facilitate this long-term contract that will provide them with supply surety, so that they can continue to lead the way to make a positive impact for the industry and environment.”
