AFTER four weeks of fairly mundane activity the Australian wool market regained a bit of ‘ticker’ last week with solid rises across the micron spectrum and in all currencies.

THERE has been some very good rain throughout the state over the last couple of weeks with the good news being that many Southern and Midland areas received some of their best falls in a long time.

THE ‘rinse and repeat’ scenario played out as expected for the Australian wool market this week with the better types slightly dearer, the poorer spec wools slightly cheaper and crossbreds and cardings helping to offset the slight decrease in the broader lower yielding merino wools.

AFTER a very busy weaner sale season, last week we reverted back to monthly store cattle sales at Powranna where agents yarded 1,657 cattle which were mainly weaners and yearlings.

May 15, 2026. IT HAS been another very steady week for the wool market with the AWEX EMI easing slightly but that was really only the poorer spec wools dragging the indicator down with the better tested wools mostly dearer over the week.

EXHIBITORS at Agfest say the event is a great opportunity for them to connect with customers.

THE current lamb market is in an interesting space with most of the big abattoirs in Victoria, South Australia and NSW having enough lambs booked in for at least two weeks in advance.
