Vendors prepare to celebrate

THE Stud Merino Breeders Association of Tasmania is proud to present our 11th annual Multi Vendor Ram Sale this December.

The sale is a unique opportunity for farmers and buyers to view Merino rams from multiple Tasmanian studs in a singular offering.

As the rams offered are all locally bred they have the best chance to excel in Tasmanian conditions.

The SMBAT sale has become firmly ensconced in the Tasmanian sheep industry’s calendar of stud sales and we look forward to its continued success.

The sale is on Friday December 4th and will be conducted by Nutrien at the Campbell Town Showgrounds.

Ram inspections are from 10am with the sale commencing at 1pm. The sale will have representation from 13 studs from across Tasmania, including Berriedale Poll, Camelford,  DM-Miena, Glen Stuart, Mayfield Estate, Rockford, Rockford Poll Merino, Weedington Poll and Winton Poll.

We are also delighted to have a number of new studs joining us selling for the first time at the multi-vendor sale including Glen Mavis, Kananga, Kelvedon Estate and The Oaks.

We are anticipating about 45 rams on offer this year.

Vendors are currently awaiting wool sample test results to make final evaluations before confirming their ram numbers for the sale.

Last year’s sale resulted in a top price ram sold for $8000 from the Rockford stud and an average price of $2,000 across the 39 rams offered.

We are indebted to all our sponsors that have again supported us this year.

Their support helps us to continue offering a fine selection of Tasmanian bred quality Merino rams for sale.

Sale catalogues will be available from late November.

Arrange a copy by contacting office.smbat@gmail.com or through your local wool agent, participating studs or at the sale.

SMBAT invites you to join us at the sale, to purchase or simply to enjoy the barbecue lunch (cash sales only) followed by refreshments and a social catch up after the sale as we celebrate selling quality Tasmanian Merino rams in the heart of the Mmidlands
