At Mountain Mist White Suffolk Stud, our focus has always been on breeding sheep that work hard and deliver results in commercial conditions.

For 35 years, we’ve been committed to using some of the best genetics available in Australia, continually striving to improve the quality and performance of our sheep.

Over the years, we’ve developed a clear picture of what we believe makes a great White Suffolk ram. It starts with outstanding muscle, good length, depth of body and excellent structural soundness. These are the qualities we have continually worked towards in our breeding program.

We believe in breeding rams with plenty of natural thickness, shape and muscle, while maintaining the structure and mobility needed to get out and work.

Importantly, our breeding decisions aren’t based on looks alone. We use Lambplan  figures and Australian Sheep Breeding Values (ASBVs) to help guide our selection decisions. This gives us objective information on important traits such as growth, eye muscle depth and fat depth, allowing us to measure genetic potential rather than simply judge what we see in the paddock.

We believe in combining the best of both worlds: visually impressive sheep with the performance figures and genetics to back them up.

Our aim is to breed commercial rams that will handle different seasons, different environments and the challenges that come with commercial farming. Rams that will produce lambs with growth, muscle and the ability to meet market requirements.
