The Derwent Valley Council has begun works to upgrade footpaths and roads, along with vegetation control, that will continue into the new year.

A footpath upgrade is underway on Blair Street between George and Richmond Streets, including a new concrete footpath with new drainage, and is expected to be completed by December 12.

Work to rehabilitate the road on Blair Street and seal it between George and Montagu Streets will take place in early 2026.

Other upgrades through December include sealing and drainage work for the first 50m of Jeffery's Track at Lachlan; resealing the intersection of Back River Road and Black Hills Road, Magra; resealing of Haney Road, Lachlan; and drainage and culvert cleaning on Plenty Link Road, Moogara.

A reseal of the sealed section of Plenty Link Road will also start in early 2026.

Roadside spraying, slashing and mowing started late in November and will continue after Christmas, with a focus on improving visibility along road shoulders and at intersections.

Work has already started on Glenora Road, Lachlan Road, and Molesworth Road.

The council is planning to do work at Molesworth/Granton, New Norfolk, Magra/Black Hills, Lachlan, Glen Fern/Plenty Valley, MT Lloyd, Uxbridge/Moogara, and Bushy Park to Maydena.

The Derwent Valley Council has urged motorists and the public to be aware of the workers and follow safety precautions.

It also advised that the scheduled dates for the work are weather-dependent and subject to change.
